ABSTRACT
The article presents a discussion on a novel model of photocapacitor. The authors assert that this device is nothing else than a low-efficiency Gratzel solar cell in series with a high capacitance capacitor formed by the AC layers separated by a dielectric resin between them. They further claim that this model allowed them to explain the experimental curves of the photocapacitor. Besides, despite having a high specific capacitance, this photocapacitor is still far from the required values for a practical application where at least one day of solar energy must be stored. However, the photocapacitor could be useful for calculators, watches, and other consumer products requiring small stored energy quantities.
