ABSTRACT
Experienced authors were surveyed on the time required to conduct and publish articles in a large number of finance journals. This study reports the results. Its aim is to supplement extant findings based on output measures (e.g., citation counts) with ones on the input side of the production function. In so doing, it can assist finance faculty members' allocation of time and effort to research and publication activities. The findings also can assist administrators in evaluating faculty members' release time requests and publication performance in light of other institutional demands on their time.
