ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the television news being broadcast on different television channels. KSDK (Channel 5)'s Leisa Zigman showed the value of local television news as she provided viewers with an insightful story on bullying in local schools. The story showed several instances of kids being physically abused by other kids. The story also included a Channel 5 poll of 700 parents indicating nearly four out of five parents think schools need to do more to prevent bullying. One of the most interesting aspects of Zigman's story was the reaction of school districts. Zigman's series showed Channel 5 is better and stronger when it sticks to what it does best, real news. KMOV (Channel 4) turn over a big chunk of airtime to raise money for this very worthwhile local children's charity. Instead, by showing up in a Channel 4 newscast, it came across as self-serving and self-important. Channel 5 has upgraded its weather, making it the best of the four stations offering local weathercasts. Another reason worth checking out Channel 5 might be the station's accuracy in forecasting
