Discusses the results of the "North American Reader and Salary Survey, December 2004," of the "Control Engineering" publication, conducted among control and automation engineers and other technical professionals. Percentage who expect their companies to spend as much or more on automation and controls in 2005, than the year before; Percentage who listed job security as their biggest concern in their present jobs; Decline in the percentage of respondents who reported that they had been through a major merger or acquisition in the past three years.
