ABSTRACT
The article discusses the popularity of Roth 401(k) plan as an investment option in the coming years. Under the new plan that will debut in 2006, employees can designate their contributions to their 401(k) plans as Roth contributions, which will for the most part, be subject to the same rules as Roth IRAs. The money cannot be withdrawn tax-free for five years after the initial contribution. When evaluating the future popularity of the new plan, planners look to the Roth IRA as a guide. Robert Reby, a financial planner in Danbury, says the Roth IRA has been out for a number of years and it's not as popular as it should be.
