ABSTRACT
The article presents information on Dale Chihuly, cofounder of the world-famous Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington, and leading American glass artist, received his MS degree in glassblowing from the University of Wisconsin. While serving as an apprentice in Italy, Chihuly was introduced to the concept of team glassmaking. This became a focus of his work when he returned to the United States, and his implementation of the concept of team production is seen as his foremost contribution in the field of glassmaking in America. Waterfall Blue Persian Set is a distinctly Chihuly creation with ripples, spirals, and sinuous forms ebb and flow like flotsam and jetsam on a pristine shoreline. It hints of sea anemone and kelp drifting in an undersea current. The translucence of the medium enhances the image of flowing water.
