ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the efforts of 3dfx Interactive to convey the power of their integrated circuits with humor through an advertising campaign launched in March 1999. The premise of the new television campaign is ridiculous, a message it hopes will hit home with computer gamers who could use 3D technologies. The three television spots begin as a tongue-in-cheek spoof of a corporate spot about technology company committed to saving the world. Through the campaign, 3dfx hopes to get consumers to seek out the 3dfx feature in new computers and to buy the add-on line for existing computers.
