ABSTRACT
This section presents a chronology of significant events in the history of the U.S. related to financial planning. In November 1789, U.S. President Benjamin Franklin writes in a letter to a friend, in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. In November 1851, Charles Henry Dow, founder of Dow Jones & Co. and The Wall Street Journal, is born. In November 1935, Parker Brothers releases what becomes the best-selling game in history, Monopoly. In November 1939, the U.S. Social Security Administration approves the first unemployment check. Finally, in November 1990, Michael Milken, junk bond king of Wall Street, is sentenced to ten years in prison for securities law violations.
