ABSTRACT
This article announces that the certified financial planner (CFP) certification mark in officially registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards expects the registration to provide greater protection of the mark. The registration symbol will gradually replace the trademark (TM) symbol, though the CFP Board said planners could continue to use the TM mark on such materials as business cards and stationery so they do not have to go through the expense of reprinting materials.
