ABSTRACT
This article reports on the proposed organization by a task force from Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards Inc. and the International CFP Council that would assume control for the development, promotion and protection of the CFP marks overseas. The number of CFP certificants outside of the U.S. has grown 29,000 and it was felt that the CFP Board could no longer handle the growth with its current structure. If the proposal and transition go as planned, the new entity would assume control on January 1, 2003.
