ABSTRACT
This article provides information on the television commercials to be launched by Australia's Qantas Airways on April 11, 1999, reincorporating the koala which was a defunct icon for the company since 1991. The creature was known for whining, I hate Qantas, because the airline was taking tourists Down Under to show off the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney Opera House, not him. The television spots touting the company's upgraded business-class service, roomier seats, attentive services and improved food. The revivals were sown in late 1995, when Peter McLaughlin arrived in California to run Qantas' marketing operations for North and South America.
