ABSTRACT
The article is about the perspective of teenagers on oral sex in Canada. It consists of interviews with young people, primarily 12- to 15-year-old girls in Toronto. Most of the youth who were interviewed attended either private co-ed or women-only schools. The reasons they gave for why teens might have oral sex varied only from group-to-group and with different ages. In general, these are: curiosity, pleasure, to please their partner, for intimacy, to relieve boredom and not to risk pregnancy. The article also deals with the relationship of oral sex and pregnancy with STI and HIV risk. Lastly, it discusses the implications for sexual health educators.
