The article focuses on significant changes in the Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2004. The act amends title 38 of the United States Code in several significant ways. Title 38 is the section of federal law that regulates all veteran benefits and healthcare issues. Some of the most important changes in the law are, ten-year extension of delimiting period for survivors' and dependents' educational assistance for spouses of members who die on active duty, additional dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses with dependent children and effective date of death pension.
