The aim of the present study was to study the feature and to analyse the morphometry of the antebrachial skeleton and bones of hand of the domestic pekin duck (Anas platyrhynchos f. domestica). The morphological studies covered 84 immature ducks (42 females, 42 males) and 40 adult ducks (34 females, 6 males). Mean body weight and absolute parameters of all bones were determined separately for each sex of ducks and for the total sample. There were found statistically significant differences (p<0,05) in the respective bones traits between males and females - quality of dimorphism and between immature and adult ducks - ontogenetic nature. The obtained results can be used in the breeding research and in the definition of remains of bones of the fossil birds during excavation.

In this study, morphometric and allometric growth of common dentex (Dentex dentex) was studied under intensive rearing conditions. Larval development, growth and morphological changes were described from 1 to 46 days after hatching (DAH). After hatching, larvae were collected in three days...

Two nonlinear growth functions were evaluated on 6 groups of 32 ducks. Ducks were randomly assigned to 1 of 6 dietary treatments and weighed weekly from 1 to 43 d of age. The Weibull function had the form: BWit = A - (A - B) exp - [(C - 1)/Cl (t/IP)* *C, where BWit is the BW of the ith...

Pekin ducks are often bill-trimmed to pre- vent feather pecking and cannibalism, but this practice has been criticized because of the resulting potential for acute and chronic pain. The goal of this experiment was to compare 2 different bill-trimming methods, hot blade trimming with cautery...

Background: The chasmosaurine ceratopsid Chasmosaurus is known from the Upper Cretaceous (Campanian) Dinosaur Park Formation of southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. Two valid species, Chasmosaurus belli and C. russelli, have been diagnosed by differences in cranial ornamentation. Their validity...

Fish larvae experience fundamental morphological, physiological, and physical changes from hatching to adulthood. All of these changes have an effect on the locomotor movements observed in the larvae. We describe the development of swimming movements in larval bronze corydoras (Corydoras aeneus...
