ABSTRACT
The article reports on some of the business activities of Lazard LLC. For the first time in 150 years, Lazard's well-guarded finances came to light in a new filing last week for the firm's proposed IPO. The filing offered a glimpse into Lazard's private ledgers, revealing such details as CEO Bruce Wasserstein's paycheck. Wasserstein became the company's second-largest shareholder when he joined in 2002, second only to the family of Chairman Michel David-Weill, which founded Lazard, a storied global advisory boutique whose feuds among its offices have passed into legend.
