ABSTRACT
This article focuses on log homes. More than 25,000 log homes are built each year, representing 7% of all custom homes. And most of those log and timber frame homes are primary residences, according to the Log Homes Council, a Washington D.C.-based organization of log home manufacturers. Log and timber frame home construction isn't losing popularity. In fact, the classic log cabin of yesterday has given way to multimillion-dollar log homes with abundant square footage. Donna Faler, international sales manager for Real Log Homes in Vermont, said the quality of log home package prices is increasing as baby boomers in the 45 to 55 age group build their full-time retirement homes.
