Reports on the deployment of a network of Internet protocol-based cameras to provide infrastructure protection in New Orleans, Louisiana. Aim of the high-technology approach to fight crime; Configuration of the SNC-RZ30N cameras from Sony Electronics Inc. into systems mounted high on power poles above the city streets with the ability to pan, tilt and zoom to read a license plate from hundreds of feet away; Transmission of the digitized images captured on the street via the city's network to a main server archive for Internet-based monitoring.
