ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the Southern Kentucky Book Festival, an annual event held during National Library Week in Bowling Green, which is the state's largest literary event. Based on the success of the first adult "One Book" program, the Book Fest partners decided to try a similar project for young readers. For the children's version, the partners sought a phrase that would also define the project. "On the Same Page," was chosen after several choices were rejected. For the past seven years, this annual two-day festival has featured a full day of children's programs and presentations by internationally known authors. The Southern Kentucky Book Fest partners had to choose a popular children's author whose books appealed to grades K-6. Mike Thaler, a well-known and prolific children's author, was selected for the first "On the Same Page," project. The program organizers put together the activities for all "On the Same Page," events. Free copies of the two featured Black Lagoon titles were given at the Bowling Green Public Library kick-off and at many area schools.
