ABSTRACT
The article reports on Association of American Publishers' monthly domestic sales report. The children's/YA hardcover segment, which saw a 63.9% increase in gross sales in December 2004, continued its climb in January 2005, as gross sales grew to $40.7 million, up or 42% from January 2004. Returns for the category were up 4.6% to $9.4 million. Most of the other categories saw strong gross sales and net sales growth, but also saw the return rate rise in similar proportions. Gross sales for the adult hardcover segment were $129.4 million in January 2005, up 33.2% from January 2004.
