John Wiley Hunting Pirates On eBay; Sues 10 Online Resellers

The article reports that John Wiley and Sons Inc. has filed 10 lawsuits against unnamed individuals claiming they engaged in the illegal sale of pirated electronic copies of over 75 Wiley titles on the auction site eBay. Six of the 10 lawsuits involve the sale of pirated electronic copies of instructor manuals that Wiley distributes to professors for free and does not sell in retail venues. The remaining four are textbooks, which are also allegedly pirated electronic copies. Roy Kaufman, a legal director at Wiley said the company has settled over 150 cases in the last three months, and the company currently has over 100 open cases.
