ABSTRACT
The article deals with children and the use of poetry in their development. Poetry can help them tune to the sounds of words and the patterns of language in exciting ways. By introducing your child to poetry, you help her tap into a special magic that comes from within. Your child just has to find the seeds for her poems, which are everywhere--in a favorite sport, the rain, a feeling, a cool stream, a friend's crazy hat, a cat cuddled on your lap, a dream. Watching animals can help sharpen your child's powers of observation--a big part of writing poetry.
