ABSTRACT
The article reports that Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik has accused Ikea AB of sexism as its flatpack instructions only have diagrams of men putting the furniture together. In fact, Ikea does use female figures, but it does not make them obviously female because it did not want to offend anyone. Despite this it has agreed, probably in the hope of a quiet life, to include some more. The company will now review its instruction leaflets to get a more even balance between men and women. Ikea places great stress on being open for all.
