The article reports that Silentnight Group is investing in a training programme to help boost the skills of its workforce. Its Steps to Success programme has been widened from senior management to include all of its 2,000 staff. Employees who volunteer for the scheme will be given training on areas they need to develop to progress to a chosen job. The programme takes two years and will include a commitment to a minimum of five days training a year for shopfloor staff and 10 days for managers. The level of investment will depend on the number of staff taking part--they have until the end of the month to join--and their individual needs.
