The article reports that federal legislators and local lawmakers in at least 20 states are restricting or looking to restrict the sale of Sudafed tablets and other popular cold remedies containing pseudoephedrine (PSE), an ingredient used to make the illegal drug. An increasing number of lawmakers, particularly in the West, Midwest and Southeast, are calling for cold medicines containing PSE to be sold by a pharmacist, essentially removing them from convenience stores. In this context, the article also provides information about the apparent success of Oklahoma's campaign to shut down makeshift labs cranking out addictive metharnphetamine.
