ABSTRACT

Reports on the view of both advocates and opponents that the fight over drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) is far from over although the U.S. Senate has taken the first step toward opening 2,000 acres of the ANWR to oil and gas developer. Expected debate in the U.S. Senate Energy Committee; Senate's narrow rejection of an amendment to the fiscal 2006 federal budget resolution that would have stripped provisions paving the way to Arctic drilling.
