This letter reports temperature-dependent recovery of atomic force microscope tip-formed indentations in a thermoset shape memory polymer. The indentations are made at both room temperature and 69 °C, and then recovered at temperatures between 40 °C and 70 °C. The shape recovery is more complete for higher anneal temperatures, and is relatively independent of time for 102–104 s. The experiments show shape memory in the 1–100 nm size scale.

Assimilating hydrophilic hollow polymer spheres (HPS) into Nafion matrix by a loading of 0.5 wt % led to a restructured hydrophilic channel, composed of the pendant sulfonic acid groups (-SO3H) and the imbedded hydrophilic hollow spheres. The tiny hydrophilic hollow chamber was critical to...

A general quantum theoretical approach of the vX-H IR line shape of cyclic dimers of weakly H-bonded species in the gas phase is proposed. In this model, the adiabatic approximation (allowing to separate the high frequency motion from the slow one of the H-bond bridged), is performed for each...

The conductivity of α-polyvinylidene fluoride is obtained from dielectric measurements performed in the frequency domain at several temperatures. At temperatures above the glass-transition, the conductivity can be interpreted as an ionic conductivity, which confirms earlier results reported...
