ABSTRACT
The article reports that after an uncomfortable year or two, the National Playwrights Conference is back on track with a new artistic director from Washington D.C. Wendy C. Goldberg, artistic associate at the Arena Stage in Washington, will immediately take charge of the annual summer conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut. The position of a.d. for the conference was scrapped last year in favor of an overall a.d. for the center. But when J. Ranelli resigned in the midst of the conference last year over leadership issues, the old management structure of separate artistic directors for each of the center's activities was reinstated.
