Existing Home Sales Slip to 6.79M Rate

The article reports that existing home sales fell 0.4% in February 2005 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.79 million units. According to a report of the National Association of Realtors, February sales rate follows January's upwardly revised level of 6.82 million. As of January 2005, the home sales report includes condominium and coop home sales. Home sales rose in two of the four regions. In the Northeast, sales were up 4.6% to an annual rate of 1.14 million units and were up 4.6% from February 2004, while in the Midwest, sales also rose 2.0% to 1.50 million units, and were 4.2% better than year-ago levels.
