ABSTRACT
This article presents information on the journal of Political Sciences-The Journal of Slovak Political Scientists. The quarterly is published jointly by the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations of the University of Matej Bel in Banská, Bystrica and by the Political Sciences Section of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The start of the journal publishing in 1998 can be considered as an important step completing the process of the institutionalization of political science as an independent and full-fledged branch of social science in Slovakia. The birth of the quarterly was preceded by the establishment of a research oriented Political Science Department at the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), by the formation of political science departments at many colleges, especially at the Comenius University and also by developing various domestic and foreign activities of the Scientific Society for Political Sciences-this institution was successfully incorporated into the association of scientific societies gathered around the Council of Slovak Scientific Societies at the SAS.
