The article reports that Random House easily leads the New York Times hardcover fiction list with 14 titles, twice the number of HarperCollins. The Random House books have also been on the list more than twice as long as HarperCollins' titles. Random House has more than "The Da Vinci Code" to thank for its No. 1 status. John Grisham's "The Broker" has spent five weeks at the No. 1 spot in 2005 and is presently No. 3. Curtis Sittenfeld's "Prep" is riding a publicity wave and has been on the list four weeks, last week moving up two spots to No. 7.
