Knight Trading Group told Congress it opposes the Securities and Exchange Commissions plan to extend the trade-through rule beyond the listed market. Tom Joyce, Knights president and CEO, testified that an extension was unnecessary. The Securities and Exchange Commission, in its Reg NMS proposal on trade-throughs, misunderstands why they are occurring, an electronic player said in a comment letter. The commission, wrote Automated Trading Desk (ATD), believes its Reg NMS proposal will reduce the need for trade-throughs, but it is wrong.
