This article reports that according to a recent Loop Capital Markets LLC report, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's valuable generating assets, solid financial position and prudent management of operations will enable the municipally owned utility to maintain strong credit quality going forward. The utility's generating assets allow it to produce electricity at a relatively low cost, Ivan Gulich, a bond analyst at the Chicago-based firm who authored the report. According to Gulich the low debt ratio coupled with a strong internally generated cash flow, gives the utility the ability to replace its distribution, generation and transmission systems if necessary.
