ABSTRACT
The article cites a study, which compares the effectiveness of early invasive therapy to that of optimized medical therapy (OMT) in older patients with angina. The rates of cardiac rehospitalizations and overall nonfatal cardiac events were lower in the EIT group than in the OMT group. The rate of freedom from major adverse cardiac events (MACE) was greater in the EIT group than in the OMT group. The rates of cardiac rehospitalizations and overall nonfatal cardiac events were lower in the EIT group than in the OMT group. The study was published in the 2004 issue of the journal "Circulation."
