ABSTRACT
The article cites a study, which discusses the effectiveness of a fixed dose of isosorbide dinitratc plus hydralazine (ID + H) to that of placebo in black patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) class III or IV heart failure (HF) with dilated ventricles. 1050 patients were included for the study who had NYHA class III or IV HF for 3 months. In black patients with New York Heart Association class III or IV heart failure with dilated ventricles, fixed-dose isosorbide dinitrate plus hydralazine improved survival and quality of life better than placebo. The study was published in the 2004 issue of "New England Journal of Medicine."
