ABSTRACT
After the introduction of a permanent catheter into the gallbladder of patas monkeys and baboons, and before and after infection with cholera vibrios, IgG, IgA, and IgM were studied in blood serum, bile, and stools. There was an early and pronounced increase of bile Ig-s after infection. The appearance of biliary antibodies followed the increase of the Ig values in the bile and stools but were demonstrable earlier than in the blood. Biliary Ig-s and antibodies appear to be derived principally from blood, perhaps also from the intestines, and a portion seems to be produced in the gallbladder.
