ABSTRACT
This article reports that Uniqema Inc., the roughly $1 billion specialty company of Imperial Chemical Industries, hopes to achieve growth this year above gross domestic product (GDP) for certain key segments such as personal care, synthetic lubricants and polymers. The company is taking a three-pronged strategy that includes a focus on high-growth segments such as personal care, synthetic lubricants and prolymers and maintaining market share in base oleochemicals. Uniqema's technology platforms include alkoxylation, esterification, splitting, carbohydrate chemistry, polymerization and silicone chemistry. Specialty alkoxylates, which combine expertise in alkoxyiation and fatty amide chemistry, are an example of the company's innovation at work.
