ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the prevention of Arterial injury reaction to Adventitial Blood with Intravenous Persantine. Intracranial arteries have been shown to develop a vasculopathy in response to subarachnoid blood. This vasculopathy, which includes endothelial desquamation, medial necrosis and intimal proliferation, has been postulated to be responsible for the vasospasm and delayed neurologic deterioration seen in subarachnoid hemorrhage patients. Although the experiments provide no data on drug mechanisms, the presumed action of dipyridimole in these animals is the altering of platelet function through the inhibition of phosphodiesterase and the enhancement of adenyl cyclase.
