ABSTRACT
This article focuses on VoiceCon Conference in Orlando. Conference sessions were jammed and the VoiceCon exhibit floor was rocking, all of which helped keep the mood and attitudes of the participants at a high level for the full four days. A big part of the success came from the nature of the speakers at VoiceCon Orlando. The real change in the Orlando program was the number of enterprise IT/telecom/networking executives who took the time to prepare insightful and incredibly useful presentations describing how their organizations were planning for coping with and implementing the migration to IP-telephony and convergence. One of the recurring themes from the presentations was that the migration to IP-telephony and convergence is as much about organizational evolution as it is about technology. Voice and data professionals are finding ways to work together, to learn from one another and to overcome the stereotypes that both groups have long held about the other.
