The article presents a study on the hemodynamic effects of isometric exercise in the blood pressure of normotensive hypertensive patients in the U.S. Isometric exercise increases arterial pressure and heart rate in normotensive individuals and also in patients with labile and fixed essential hypertension. In addition, isometric exercises may result in dangerous elevations in arterial pressure of an already increased pressure, which may eventually lead to cerebrovascular accidents.
