ABSTRACT
This article reports on the advertising campaign of Pepsi-Cola Co. in March 1999. Industry observers and Pepsi-Cola insiders are convinced that, with the advertisements and a marketing link to the movie Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, the company is poised for a strong year. There are also high hopes for Pepsi's Mountain Dew brand. According to Beverage Digest, Mountain Dew's sales increased by 9.9% in 1998. The Pepsi commercials will debut on March 21 in ABC. The campaign will include commercials from Pepsi's African-American and Hispanic agencies, UniWorld Group and Del Rivero Messianu Advertising, respectively.
