ABSTRACT
Transomatic vertebral angiography of the azygos vein is useful in the diagnosis of portal hypertension syndromes. The authors describe roentgenologic findings in these cases, which consisted of a dilated and tortuous azygos vein system and of regurgitation in the proximal part of the intercostal veins. These findings are duo to increased blood flow from the liver due to intrahepatic or extrahepatic block in the portal venous system.
