ABSTRACT
Over a 12-month period, 52 operations were performed using electrocoagulation as an adjunct in varicose vein surgery. Results were based solely on the effect produced on the vein segments coagulated. Review of the charts show that adequate experience with the instrument was the most important factor in producing successful results. In the 52 operations, 34 operations were evaluated as excellent, 16 as good, and 5 as failures. Five instances of minor skin burns occurred in this series. No other complications were encountered.
