ABSTRACT
Discusses the effect of experimental arterial occlusion on the plasminogen tissue activator in rabbits. Enhancement of fibrinolytic activity in plasma and in venous endothelium; Increase in plasminogen activator of the venous blood compared with the arterial blood; Release of plasminogen-activator from the vessel wall.

This is a literature review on to the use of endovascular therapy in hyperacute ischaemic stroke secondary to large vessel occlusion (LVO). The prognosis for LVO is generally poor and the efficacy of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV TPA) in the treatment of this subtype of stroke is...

Background and Purpose: Intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (TPA) has limited efficacy in proximal large vessel occlusions. This study was to assess the safety and efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy with a retrievable Solitaire stent in acute large artery occlusions...

Acute basilar artery occlusion has a poor prognosis and best treatment has not been assessed yet; as for intra-arterial treatment, no 'gold standard' exists. We evaluated a series of ten patients treated with intra-arterial combination of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) and...

Lysis block treatment (LBT) is a new form of fibrinolytic therapy for deep vein thrombosis and arterial occlusion in the distal parts of the limbs. Strictly local lysis was achieved by placing a cuff around the thigh or the upper arm, inflating the cuff to a pressure of 500 mmHg (‘Bier's...
