ABSTRACT
This article reports that US firm Applied Science Laboratories (ASL) is to make a lightweight, portable eye-tracking system. The technology bas been spun out of Qinetiq PLC's research into "look and fire" systems for fast-jet pilots and will be produced under a manufacturing licensing deal. ASL said that the eye tracking system would be ideal for sporting and marketing applications. These include sports training, such as ball and eye co-ordination or target recognition, and ergonomic assessments, such as how we anticipate potential hazards when driving or what catches a shopper's eye in the supermarket.
