ABSTRACT
The article examines the hemodynamic and the anti-arrhythmic effects of a new beta-blocker, LB-46, after coronary artery ligation and during paired pacing. The drug demonstrated a mild and insignificant hypotension but no significant change of the heart rate and cardiac output. These effects were more favorable than those produced by propranolol and comparable to those of bretylium tosylate. Paired pacing did not further augment the favorable hemodynamic effects of LB-46. The beta blocker demonstrated anti-arrhythmic properties by preventing ventricular fibrillation during paired pacing.
