ABSTRACT
In addition to previous UCG reports on patients with artificial mitral valves of the Starr-Edwards type, we present two corresponding observations in patients with disc prostheses (types KayShiley and CrossJones). Also in these patients, UCG values are found similar to those in patients with severe mitral stenosis, but the values are higher than those for ball prostheses. The origin of the findings is discussed, in reference to x-ray cinematographic recordings on which valve ring and cage as well as disc can be analyzed in their respective positions to the ECG and UCG. We believe that echo waves are reflected from the valve ring of the prosthesis or the valve plane.
