ABSTRACT
The article reports on a new novel by Lesléa Newman which is based on the true story of the most famous dog Hachiko in all of Japan. The story of Hachiko had happened long before author Lesléa Newman was born and half a world away. Newman says that the first thing she had to do was to hush the voice in her head that said, "Who are you kidding?" The next thing Newman did was hit the library. Here in this article she shares her tips for using research in one's writing. She insists that one should give oneself permission to write about anything he/she wants.
