The article focuses on the business planning of furniture retailer Furniture123. Originally called Furniture Online, it was changed to Furniture 123 to make the company more internationally transferable it works out of a small office block to the east of Leeds city centre. It does not even fill the whole of a relatively small floor, but it started in even smaller premises, and it is testament to its survival skills that it is looking to take up the rest of the floor and perhaps beyond. The company has grown by 50% each year and now employs 21 staff,after starting with 10. Whereas two years ago there was one person in putting product detaits on the Web site, as well as dealing with the technical aspects of the IT system, there are now four merchandisers updating the products.
