ABSTRACT
This article presents findings of a 2005 survey by Special Events magazine on corporate spendings for special events. While corporate events currently are not quite as fun and well-financed as they were in the late 1990s, spending on them is on the upswing and there is some optimism out there, according to the study. The survey showed that 38 percent of the 171 corporate planners who responded said that spending on corporate special events was up for 2004. That includes 8 percent who said spending rose more than 10 percent. One-third of respondents reported that 2004 spending was level with that of 2003. For 2005, most respondents saw expenditures staying stable or trending upward, with 37 percent expecting an increase, 43 percent expecting the same expenditures as 2004, and just 10 percent expecting a drop. Eleven percent of respondents were unsure or did not answer the question.
