ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the recent developments related to merger and acquisition activity in the healthcare industry. Novartis AG and Medco Health Solutions Inc. acquired a two multibillion dollar healthcare deal in February 2005. Meanwhile, Medco Health Solutions, a benefits pharmacy manager, said it would purchase Accredo Health Inc., a provider of contract pharmacy services, for $2.2 billion. Several factors ore expected to drive more dealmaking in 2005. Big pharma players, for one, are looking for acquisitions to build up their drug pipelines.
